  1. Ryan says:

Wait … does Gerald still not know about Mark’s transformation? Something tells me he’s about to find out, if Mark’s face is anything to go by.

  2. Dave Van Domelen says:

Okay, that’s a clever bit of headcanon etymology there.

    1. Shieltar says:

It makes sense of so much doesn’t it. Even why earth pony’s are called earth pony’s

      1. DracoBlair says:

Too much sense. Send it Hasbro stat!

      2. John says:

        So is America = Equsestria?
        To Confirm Say
        YES or NO_

      3. LittleSlimy says:

Aren’t they called Earth Ponies because, and I quote the wikipedia here, “According to Lauren Faust, Earth ponies have a special connection to nature, animals, and plants. Though they lack the ability to consciously cast spells like unicorns or to fly and walk on clouds like Pegasi, their connection to nature makes them “just as necessary” as and “perhaps more important” than the other ponies.”

        Pegasi control the weather
        Unicorns control Sun and Moon
        Earth Pony grow crops

        1. Shieltar says:

Yes, they can do that. But in this cannon, Earth pony is a corruption of the word Earthing, and this also explains why they are able to affect the ground and plants so well. Because they are sending magic INTO the ground, where the magic is collected by the tree of harmony, or T.R.E.E of harmoney as it currently is. Before being stored in the elements of harmony.

        2. Matthew says:

In the final episode of season 8 the show something cool about earth ponies mainly pinkie. I dont want to spoiler it so watching it your self and see.

      4. Imma unicorn says:

Ooooooooooooooohhh (0.0) so much imagination and smartness…Shieltar. I don’t like you. YOU ARE MY HERO YOUR SO SMART I NEED TO HUG YOU *hug my phone and suddenly realising i can’t hug you* nooooooo *whimpers*

  3. Headlock says:

Heh. He has no idea what he’s stumbled upon. X)

  4. LittleSlimy says:

Heya, remember when I said Equestria’s planet is a flat one unlike our Earth? Here is why:

    https://sta.sh/01p843kg311m

    1. Nikary Flare says:

That might prove the possibility, but it’s not a fact. More arguments, please! Theories are interesting when they have very solid basis, but yours is a little lacking. No offense.

      1. LittleSlimy says:

I do not see what is lacking here.

        1. Nikary Flare says:

          Definite proof.

          1. LittleSlimy says:

            Definite proof?

I never said it was facts, I said it’s a theory based on facts.
So I do not need proof. If I have proof, my theory becomes a fact.

            Dah.

            1. Parzivle says:

I’m questioning how the gravity on a flat planet would work.

              1. LittleSlimy says:

From what you see in the serie, the planet gets it own gravity, (just see how Pinkie bounces around https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbKbu-R6IQ4 ), but one not strong enough for the Sun and the Moon to turn around the planet.

            2. Ryan says:

What you have is a hypothesis. If you use it to make predictions, test those predictions, and they check out, then you have a theory. Theories do not become facts.

              1. LittleSlimy says:

                Wrong.
First It was a hypothesis, true, but I use facts, comparing their universe with ours.

In our Universe, Sun and Moon turns from West to East because Earth turns the Sun and Moon turns around Earth. Fact.
In their Universe, Celestia and Luna raise Sun and Moon and the celestial body do not move from the spot they are left by the two sisters (except the few times writers do plothole for story convenience, like during the season 8 finale episode). Fact.

What I have, is a theory, based on facts.

On another topic, Until there is a clear picture of the planet being a flat one, proving I was right all this time, this remains just a theory.
But would I get this proof, from the show, my theory, becomes a fact, explaining how it works, why it works, you can’t deny that.

            3. Shieltar says:

Actually, if your going to be pedantic. What you have is a hypothesis. In order to have a theory. You have to take your idea, submit it to pier review, and use your idea to make a prediction based on your hypothesis. If that prediction comes true, and pier review does not find fault in your idea. Then, and only then do you have a theory.

              1. LittleSlimy says:

Well, so far nobody tried to point out a flaw in my “hypothesis”

                1. Shieltar says:

Well. seeing as you asked I will do my best to give your hypothisis a fair go…

OK. having read it, your hypothesis fails to present any evidence or reasoning that could be used to prove or disprove the shape of the world. Though it does bring up some interesting points, that have caused me to interpret the MLP world differently.

your observation of the state of the moon is incorrect. The moon you showed is both a new moon AND a crescent moon as while you can see the full shape of the moon, you can also see a brightly illuminated crescent. From this we can conclude 2 things.

1.) the moon is a ball.
2.) there is more than one significant source of light in the equestrian solar system.
3.) the sun is further away from equestria than the moon is.

We can conclude these things because of the shape of the bright illumination and how it changes coincides with the moon being a ball and the sun illuminating one half of the moon, and the fact the sun illuminates the moon through the night means that the sun must be far enough away to see the moon, but not the surface of the world, while creating such a slim sliver of illumination, a bit of mental trigonometry suggests the sun is a long way further off than the moon.

The fact there is a second significant source of light other than the sun is evident from the fact the whole moon is illuminated. Which means either the moon itself is emitting light, or the stars are much closer than they are in our universe and lighting up the whole night sky far more brilliantly.

This conclusion makes sense of the bright purple night’s sky and the total lack of a need of street lights at night. Not to mention it makes Luna’s line “mine is not the lesser light” from Lullaby to a princess more poinient. As in this universe the light of night is not a reflection of the sun, but a light all of it’s own.

If however your attempting to ascertain the shape of the world from the moon, you’re going to have to wait for the world to cast a shadow on it. without that, the best way to find out if the world of equestria is round or flat, would be to find out if time zones exist. If they do, the world is round. If they don’t, the world is flat.

                  1. LittleSlimy says:

Please, do not bring a non canon song into this. Otherwise, I could bring Fallout Equestria and Cupcakes to be as revelant as this song is ….

Also also, I was trying to explain that, considering how the Sun and the moon are moved by the sisters, if the planet would it be “not flat” like our Earth, at least half of it would never see the light, and 10% would suffer eternal daylight.

I made pictures but it seems Deviant Art is limited in capacity of pictures per entries.

                    1. Shieltar says:

Ok. Assuming the sun is pushed around the world by Celestia. While it is night time and the sun is below the horizon, it has not been turned off, but has been pushed around to the other side of the world, where it is illuminating that part of the world. Meaning that while equestria is experiencing night, the other side of the world is experiencing daylight.

This is true of any world of any shape that has a fixed point sun. In our solar system this occurs because of the rotation of the world. In equestria this occurs because of the orbit of the sun.

flat, round, the sun is below the horizon, not turned off like a light bulb. Round or flat, both work.

There is actually no way of determining the shape of the world of equestria with the information we have available.

So with both options being equally valid pending evidentiary proof, I choose to believe in a round world.

                      1. LittleSlimy says:

Okay so to go back to this non canon song, when Luna says “Mine is not the lesser light” it is a metaphor about her princesshood, not about the light of the Moon. She is saying she is equal to Celestia, they should adore her too, not being shadowed by her own sister….

And here you go the picture I couln’t put in the first entry: https://sta.sh/012a4pasfbn7

                    2. mowny says:

However, a) the map of equestria is not to scale, b) how do you explain the ice at the upper and lower ends of the map?

  5. ChaosDX says:

All of those wild magic examples sound like they would make a hilarious story arc on their own.

    1. ryttyr says:

Question is, do we want to get sidetracked when the comic is going at the pace it does?

      1. Yet_One_More_Idiot says:

Maybe if the comic eventually finishes (with the rise of the early Pony societies I’m guessing, rather than going all the way to Equestria), Shieltar could go back and do a story arc with all the Noodle Incidents he’s mentioning here? 😉

        1. ryttyr says:

If he still feels like doing it at that point and we still remember that we wants him to do it you mean? Yes then it’d be great if he did that.

  6. Nikary Flare says:

Mark’s face in the last panel is pure gold xD

  7. Cylestea says:

well we have a earth pony already

  8. Xanderfox says:

Well it was earthing or grounding…

    1. Yet_One_More_Idiot says:

      How about Neutralising? Or Conductive/Conducting?

  9. Volko says:

I know this wasnt posted onapril 1st, but damit, it reads and feels like an april fools.

And I see no one as told the dr about the rest of the world transforming.

  10. rain-of-bow dash says:

i love the fact that you poked fun at how much of a problem the Mary sue alicorn oc’s have become XD

    1. Shieltar says:

      What do you mean… HAVE…

Mary sue Alicorn OC’s have ALWAYS been a problem.

This is why, despite Grace having the best reason for any OC to be an Alicorn. (being Celestia and Luna’s mummy) I never the less chose to make her a pegasis.

      1. Rain-of-bow dash says:

What I mean by that is, when the show first came out, Mary Sue alicorn weren’t that prevalent, but now, there EVERYWHERE…

  11. Hobbes says:

And that’s how the elements of Harmony were made. The End. Er, The Beginning.

  12. Hobbes says:

Wait wait wait. So, all that fooling around they are having…He’s just drawing the magic off her and sending it right into the planet. Nice. Mommy is producing too much magic and Mark is helping her distribute it…..

  13. BenRG says:

Yeah, I kind of guessed that it was all this quack’s fault in the end.

Yes, by all means! Let’s pump huge amounts of unpredictable reality-altering energy into the water table, soil and bedrock! What could possibly go wrong with any of this?

    1. Rain-of-bow dash says:

The answer to that: everything, absolutely everything can, and does go wrong…

(Yes, I know I’m stating the obvious, that’s the point of the joke)

  14. Fei says:

Nice (think you could make a mobile app or something? I had a hard time reading these)

    1. Shieltar says:

I’m an artist. I can’t code to save my life. So no, I’m afraid I can’t make a mobile app.

  15. Borg says:

It would clearly be more effective at grounding if its legs were permanently embedded in the ground. I’m sure it wouldn’t mind.
