Daughter of Prof Harmoney, Grace has adopted his creations, Princess and Luna as her daughter and has become there Mummy.
Above all, Grace loves her little pony daughters and will do what she feels is best for them.

Luna is the latest addition to the family. Created to be a life long companion to Tia, unlike her sister Luna was not made in perfect laboritory conditions and started life younger and smaller as a result.
A very enlightening explanation about the nature of Earth(ing) Ponies there, glad it was coming from Grace rather than her dad, I think it makes it a bit more easily understandable (and I prefer to be looking at Grace while I’m reading the explanations, too! ;-P)
Also, Mark’s face in that last panel is several kinds of hilarious in one – “This is a family trip; just you, me, and the kids” lol! :DDD
It originally came from Lauren Faust around the time of season 2, after she’d left. I distinctly remember her mentioning that Alicorns have magic legs, and so do Earth ponies. I find the show bares this out, but no one has outright stated it since.
Grace seems different, is it her hair? She seems more like a married woman and mother than the teenage mother that the series started with.
I do like how Grace understands her father so well that she understands the stuff he’s inventing that have already been created. lol. It’s sorta like inventing the wheel after the first bike has been invented. 🙂
Mark should get a clue, he’s been picked by Grace to be her hubby and father to the alicorn daughters. (They all already do it seems anyway, lol!)
My best guess? They probably got the seed from the Crystal Empire (Best place to get a good crystal I guess?) especially since it would still have been around before the pillars disappeared but BEFORE Sombra. I believe the pillars were gone way before even Luna was banished to the moon and she’d been gone a thousand years, as had the Crystal Empire. MLP has confirmed (in comics) that the Crystal Empire was around for a long time, at least of ONE ruler of it from before Sombra and we all know rulers tend to be extremely long lived except for evil ones. 🙂
The Crystaling event further supports this as it absorbs powers and can power things such as the Crystal Heart. So if that’s the case, then all each of the pillars would have to do is share their power into a crystal and plant it to form the Tree of Harmony (eventually?) in a sense.
To be honest, where they got the seed is completely open to interpretation. But I want BOE to be canonically consistent with the show, so that people can head cannon the two together if they wish.
So in BOE cannon, When the three tribes left there old homeland, someone took a seed from the “T.R.E.E. of Harmoney” (with an E) and the pillars used it to create the “tree of harmony (without an E). and by extension created the elements of harmony
if you read the journal of the 2 sister, celestia gets her cutiemark when she discovers that she can control the sun and make the sat, and the book is cannon.
And if that’s the case, it’s also likely that Lulu would remain a blank flank until a similar point in time (I can’t imagine she’d get her cutie mark before Tia – although doing so would be a great opportunity to see super-jealous-Tia again! xD)
With Luna I can image she would want her mane in a ponytail or something. To keep her forehead clear and her horn within sight. After all for them not having your horn visible would be a sign of being a foal.

she looks more mature, because I deliberately made her more mature when there was a 2 year time jump at the beginning of book 6.
this includes a new hair cut, pointier chin, and a more adult figure.

i’ve been steering clear of that in case mlp do an episode where she tells that story.
I doubt that Tia’s story will be be told in the final season. Besides yours diverges already with the Tree of Harmony. 🙂

She is very invested in her children so she should know at least he basics of what created them and how their magic works.
