Of course the house is ready for my girls arrival today that I’d completely forgotten about until you just reminded me! But first…who wants picnic?! :DDD
    O Grace, head in the clouds… 😉

  3. Volko says:

I can see why that tought bouble is censored.
And ofcourse the house is ready, it’s so ready that theyl allready have to clean their rooms. O:)

  4. BenRG says:

The hat makes me think it is likely that Grace and Mark are the blood ancestors of the Apple clan.

  5. Talon says:

I’m left wondering how little Richard knows about this family.

    1. BenRG says:

He clearly knows enough that he’s not even slightly worried about his daughter-in-law having wings!

  6. ryttyr says:

Richard: Doesn’t bat an eye at his daughter-in-law’s wings
Also Richard: Thinks Princess and Luna are RoPets…
Is he slow or… or what?

Also, you better censor that thought Grace.

    1. Yet_Pone_More_Idiot says:

I’m pretty sure Mark’s having a censored thought in the second panel, too. xD
And if Richard thinks Tia and Luna are RoPets, perhaps he thinks Grace’s wings are just…I dunno, cybernetic enhancements built for her by her M.A.D. scientist father? *le shrug*
To paraphrase someone smarter than me: There are two things only that are infinite – the universe, and humanity’s capacity for self-delusion. And I’m not sure about the former.

      1. Shieltar says:

pretty much. Everyone that see’s Tia and Luna, think there Ro-pets. This is because Ro-pets are everywhere and are basically custom, realistic pet creatures. The Main difference is that as real creatures, Tia and Luna need to use the loo. Ro-pets need to recharge. Ro-pets can fake eating however, so Tia and Luna nomming on things would not be a give away.

Also, I did plan to go into this, but we ended up having fun times at the beach instead… Wings are a normal thing. But there usually super fake, big, showey and cause the wearer to become a stuck up jeark who thinks there better than everyone else. (look at me and my awesome wings! sucks to be you!)

        1. Arn says:

So these humans, here, doing…I can genetic myself so I will, thing..

        2. ryttyr says:

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, WHAT? Wings are normal in this world? How? In what way? Why? For who? Since when? What????

          1. Shieltar says:

in Real life, cybernetic limbs are already a reality. There fledgling technology, but they exist. fast forward to the point that life like robotic pets are an every day reality, and realistic, I can’t tell the difference from the real thing, limbs are also a thing. It is not after that point, a huge leap to imagine that cybernetic wings might also be a thing too.

            1. ryttyr says:

Hmmm… I suppose that makes sense. Still… you really should have established that in the comic beforehand in some way. Should have at least mention it or given a hint about it in my opinion.

              1. Yet_Pone_More_Idiot says:

I agree. Various characters have referred to RoPets (or mentioned owning one) and we’ve see a shop that sells RoPets as well. But I don’t recall anyone else wandering about with wings or any mention by characters of knowing someone who had cybernetic wing implants.

Grace did get some odd looks when her wings first began appearing, but then again they did just…APPEAR or disappear in a flash, which would be extremely unusual. But I don’t remember any mentions or appearances of anybody else with wings at any time.

                1. Shieltar says:

I never brought it up, because both of the storylines it would have been relevant in were both abandoned. And besides that it’s a virtually irrelevant detail. Besides, I did mention that BOE is set in the future. In hind sight I probably should have drawn the cars a bit more futuristic, but I suck at cars and hindsight is 20 20

Story 1) grace gets bullied for having wings and eventually flips out when the PE teacher refers to them. Dropped for being too mean spirited and the fact Grace started being home schooled.

Story 2) Grace gets a job at a skydiving company by being able to prove she can actually fly to the boss in the interview. She then gets put in charge of teaching the Angels to “fly” and has to deal with there self conceited “look at my wings, there WAY bigger than YOU’RS” attitude. This was dropped for several reasons.
                  – it revolved around bullies again.
                  – the conversation that was supposed to lead into the story naturally progressed in a different direction, with Grace outright declaring her intention to be a stay at home mother. Not only was it a statement VERY much in line with her character and life up to that point. But fixing it would have meant redrawing a page and a half. That and I did like the idea of portraying being a responsible stay at home parent as a valid life choice. as I feel that opinion is grossly underrepresented in the media for a variety of reasons.

                  1. Yet_Pone_More_Idiot says:

That’s a very fair and detailed answer. 😀
Slightly more futuristic-looking cars would be nice though – perhaps a DeLorean? 😉

                  2. Arn says:

So what went wrong with the flying car?:(

                    1. ryttyr says:

It was more energy efficient to have vehicles rest on the ground than having them constantly have to fight gravity even when idle.

            2. Arn says:

The whole world is acting like Brazil at Carnival?

              1. Arn says:

So that mother of the little boy, we never saw her face, did she have three eyes or an elephant trunk?

Kind of reminds me of the
The Happy Unfortunate – Robert Silverberg..
I want on Twilght’s good side!

          2. AeroTendo says:

I always thought that the wings situation was covered by Cel and Luna’s magic, altering reality so that magical things were “normal” lol

        3. Alivda says:

So… In other words, people with wings act like Rarity with wings? lol

  7. Borg says:

I see he’s not in on it, then.

I wonder what they told him about the wings? Apparently it wasn’t something that segued into what the kids actually are.

  8. Astromormy says:

If I may make a suggestion, could I propose that you shift Richard’s appearance some? As he is, I keep mistaking him for Prof Harmony, and it took me going back to previous pages in order to understand the dialog on this page. It wouldn’t need to be anything major, perhaps giving him a haircut or changing his mustache to a goatee.

    1. ryttyr says:

Here’s a tip on how to tell them apart: Gerald have blue eyes and big round glasses with brass coloured temples whilst Richard have green eyes and small half-moon glasses with silver-grey temples.

    2. AeroTendo says:

Maybe having him be able to mistaken is all part of the plan for when the bad guys show up for Luna and Celestia? He could fake out the bad guys or something with his likeness. lol! 🙂

Finally I can comment on this. Sometime ago the IP black list thing banned my IP for trying to sign in with an old wordpress account but for some reason failing enough times that it banned my IP. That being said, using a browser VPN lets me view the website without issue and I’ve been tracking this comic for roughly a year or so now and I hope it never ends! 🙂
